Why motorise your roller shutter?
Large roller shutters are heavy, and lifting them by hand every day is tiring and sometimes unsafe. A motorised roller shutter door opens and closes at the push of a button, reduces wear on springs and slats, and improves security because the door can be closed quickly and completely every time.
- Remote control, wall push-button or key-switch operation
- Manual override for power failures and load-shedding
- Battery backup options for critical doors
- Safety features such as limit switches and safety edges
- Single-phase motors for shops and homes; heavy-duty motors for industrial doors
Convert your existing manual door
Most manual perforated and solid roller shutters can be converted. We check the barrel, slats and guides, then fit a motor sized for the door weight, plus controls. If the door has damaged slats or tired springs, we repair those first so the motor is not overloaded.
Motor options by application
| Application | Typical setup |
|---|---|
| Home garage or patio | Compact tubular or central motor with remotes and manual override |
| Shopfront | Central motor with key switch or remote, optional battery backup |
| Warehouse / loading bay | Heavy-duty side-mounted motor with push-button station and chain override |

Frequently asked questions
Can my existing roller shutter be motorised?
In most cases, yes. We inspect the door first to make sure the barrel, slats and springs are in good condition, then fit a motor sized for the weight of the door.
What happens during load-shedding?
All the motors we fit have a manual override. For doors that must operate during outages, we can add battery backup.
Can I use a remote?
Yes. Remotes, wall switches, key switches and push-button stations are available, and extra remotes can be added later.
